As a freelance web developer and software engineer, I've built a diverse portfolio that showcases my expertise in React, Python, and PHP. My projects range from interactive games to security tools, content platforms, and AI applications; allowing me to demonstrate my versatility and technical depth.
My development approach combines solid engineering principles with creative problem-solving. Whether creating engaging user interfaces with React, building robust backends with Python, or developing dynamic web applications with PHP, I focus on delivering solutions that are both technically excellent and user-friendly.
Each project in my portfolio represents a different facet of my programming skills. Extreme Chess Pro highlights my ability to create engaging interactive experiences. SIEMantics demonstrates my expertise in security-focused applications and data processing. The Daily Oaks showcases my proficiency with content management systems and Django framework. And H.E.R.B.I.E illustrates my capability to integrate multiple APIs and AI technologies into a cohesive, powerful tool.
What sets my work apart is the seamless blend of technical functionality and thoughtful design. I believe great software should not only work flawlessly, but also provide an intuitive, enjoyable experience for users. This tenet guides every project I undertake, whether it's a simple web application or a complex multi-engine system.
For clients and collaborators, my technical versatility means I can adapt to various project requirements and technologies. My experience across different programming languages and frameworks allows me to choose the right tools for each specific challenge, ensuring efficient development and optimal results.
My artistic preference spans both digital and traditional media, reflecting my belief in the importance of fundamental skills alongside technological fluency. I love art and take every opportunity I can to be creative. This dual approach enriches all my creative endeavours, from standalone artworks to illustrations that complement my programming and comic projects.
In digital media, I create vibrant, detailed pieces using industry-standard tools like Fire Alpaca, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator. My workflow combines traditional artistic principles with the unique possibilities of digital platforms, resulting in polished illustrations suitable for various commercial applications. My technical understanding as a programmer gives me insight into how these digital assets function across different platforms and devices.
The traditional ink work I do represents a deliberate exploration of artistic fundamentals. Working with pen, brush, and ink on paper develops skills that inform all my visual creation. These traditional pieces offer a tangible, handcrafted look-and-feel that appeals to clients seeking unique, personal artwork for special projects or physical spaces.
What sets my artwork apart is how it integrates with my technical expertise. The visual thinking I develop through art directly enhances my approach to user interface design and digital experiences. My understanding of composition, colour theory, and visual hierarchy allows me to create websites and applications that are both functionally sound and aesthetically pleasing.
For clients seeking a comprehensive approach to their digital presence, my combined skills in art and programming offer significant advantages. I can easily transition from creating visual assets to implementing them in functional websites or applications, ensuring consistency throughout the project and eliminating the communication barriers that often arise between designers and developers.
My webcomics are born from a deep passion for storytelling and world-building. There's something magical about bringing characters to life on the page and watching their stories unfold. Each series I create starts as a spark of imagination that grows into a fully realised world with its own rules, personalities, and visual language.
Pockethands began as a simple question: what would happen in a world where the rules could change at any moment? This curiousity blossomed into the unpredictable landscape of Sandbox City and its reluctant protagonist, Cross Mahart. Drawing each page feels like exploring this world alongside the characts, discovering its quirks and dangers with every new panel. The joy of crafting these intricate environments and watching readers connect with Cross's journey makes the countless hours hunched over my drawing book worthwhile.
Sketchy The Alien emerged from my love of simple, heartfelt stories that can brighten someone's day. Creating these monthly strips gives me a chance to step back from complexity and focus on the small moments of wonder and friendship that make life meaningful.
I have countless other comics in the works, ranging from an exploration of the lives of wild animals in the modern world, to alternative versions of the lives of historical figures.
What drives my comic creation is the unique power of sequential art to tell stories in ways that no other medium can. The combination of visuals and text, the control of pacing through panel layouts, the ability to guide the reader's eye across the page - these elements make comics an incredibly rich form of expression. Each page presents new creative puzzles to solve and new opportunities to connect with readers.
